I am Robert Eakin, the instructor and owner of Mobile Math Tutoring. I have been a self-employed math tutor since 2000. My interest in tutoring began in high school and went on to become a hobby that would continue through college and beyond. I make the learning connect with students, remedy their difficulties, and make hard math fun and easy for them.
Education and Qualifications I graduated from the University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA) in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. A few years later I passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) and gained experience teaching as a substitute for the San Juan and Natomas Unified School Districts, as well as for various private schools.
My greatest qualification, however, would be client success stories.
Personal Tid Bits One of my favorite things about visiting so many homes is the family dogs. They are all "my dogs" when I visit them. Retrievers and German shepherds are some of my favorites. Ask me about the times I caught a German shepherd running around in an open field. It actually happened twice.
German shorthaired pointers are wild and playful.
Stedman is my favorite German shepherd
Getting him to hold still is harder than it looks.
Roxie is a fun puppie.
Here are Scout and Sophie.
Louie is a character.
On Sundays I attend First Church of the Nazarene and operate the video equipment during songs, videos, and sermons. I've read 20 books by C. S. Lewis (Till We Have Faces may be my favorite), as well as a few by Desmond Ford, plus some famous books like Uncle Tom's Cabin and Helen Keller's Story of My Life.
One of my favorite quotes is: "Good philosophy must exist, if for no other reason, because bad philosophy needs to be answered" (C. S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory;many cite it, but few document it.) Another favorite quote of mine is: "I'm not going to get married, I'm going to be a superhero!" My nephew uttered this after we watched Kung Fu Panda. Or was it Superfriends?
